Zürich Zoo and Masoala Rainforest Hall

Zürich Zoo has been transformed into a landscaped zoo where animals are kept in enclosures planted and designed to imitate their natural habitats as closely as possible. The "Masoala Rainforest" - an indoor ecosystem - is a pioneering experiment in providing a hands-on experience of the natural interdependencies between the animal and plant worlds in a man-made setting. In a space of over 108'000 square feet, a piece of the Madagascar rainforest was recreated - with animals and plants found only in that area.
