This was one of the first ecological restaurants in Antwerp and continues to serve food made with Belgian, ecological and/or fairtrade ingredients only. During lunchtime the place is packed so obviously the formula has become very popular with the locals. Apart from sandwiches and panini, they mostly serve soup, salads and lasagna. Madre Tierra can be found in the heart of the old city and the interior reflects the philosophy of the place: recycled furniture, spartan wooden floorboards and so on.
