Amsterdam Canals
Cool or not, the Amsterdam canals still determine the architectural style of Amsterdam's city center. Originally built as a sewage, the canals provide the best view of the 17th and 18th century merchants houses and warehouses. Each house has its own tale. Keizersgracht number 123 is the 'House with the Heads'. Legend has it that the maid caught six burglars red-handed and beheaded them with an axe. Number 546 boasts one of Amsterdam's most beautiful clock gables.
