4,000 new inhabitants in Valencia

Valencia opened in February 2008 the largest themed zoo  in Europe, with 4,000 animals and 250 different species. The Bioparc is situated in the old Turia riverbed in the Parque de Cabecera, to the west of the city. The park, conceived as a “zoo immersion”, spans some 100, 000 m² and aims to recreate natural habitats from all five continents. The zoo can be accessed via a 145 metre-long footbridge and the full "zoo experience" will take around six hours. The opening of the Bioparc has contributed to Valencia’s growing reputation for eco-tourism, alongside the Oceanogràfic and La Albufera National Park.
