Valencia welcomes the autumn with a wide range of events for music and art lovers. The Palau de les Arts’ 5th Season opens with the great Giuseppe Verdi's Aida, which will be performed on 13th, 19th, 22nd, 25th and 28th November and 16th, 19th, 23rd and 29th December. These performances will be conducted by the maestro Lorin Maazel and the young talent Omer Wellber. El Palau de la Música is preparing it “Autumn Festival”, which is to begin on 12th October with El Consorcio, whilst the zarzuela La Revoltosa, by Valencian Ruperto Chapí, will be performed on 16th. The 21st November sees singing give way to dance as Aida Gomez’ company represents the flamenco Spanish ballet version of the well-known Carmen. The festival closes with the Kiev National Ballet, which will perform Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.  Pastora Soler and Jorge Drexler complete the line-up of this eclectic festival. From 21st October to 2nd January, IVAM (Instituto Valencia de Arte Moderno) is to present an exhibition dedicated to the architect Félix Candela, responsible for the Oceanogràfic building within the City of Arts and Sciences complex, composed of plans, drawings and models of his best works, whilst on 28th October the museum inaugurates an exhibition centred on the Judith Rothschild Foundation Contemporary Drawings Collection, which can be visited up to 16th January.
