James Ensor

Belgium celebrates this year the birth of the famous painter Ensor by holding several exhibitions and Antwerp is no exception. It is 150 years since the painter James Ensor (1860-1949) was born in Ostend.

Ensor is known for his very graphic approach to art, vivid colours and original subjects. His masterpieces are often iconic and balance between realism and impressionism. The paintings depicting masks are world famous. This year he is everywhere, also in Antwerp
