Jan I Moretus

22 September 2010 heralds the 400th anniversary of the death of Jan I Moretus.

Next to the printed works of the Plantin publishing house under Jan Moretus’s management this exhibition will showcase a great number of documents which also shed light on the personal life of Jan Moretus. The Plantin archive preserves several documents such as testaments, marriage contracts, letters and inventories, which illustrate Jan Moretus’s life and work. This will give rise to a retrospective, which will give the first Moretus the attention that he more than deserves.
