Shadowland

The Pilobolus Dance Theatre is showing its innovative performance Shadowland starting July 5 in the MuseumsQuartier.

The American dance company became famous overnight with its performance at the 2007 Oscar Awards. Nothing like it had ever been seen before: Behind a lighted screen human forms intertwine elegantly into objects; bodies join to form impressive illusions and collapse again only to become new poetic figures.

What the nine Pilobolus dancers are now performing in Vienna is more than shadow play or classic dance. Their outlines transform into cars, elephants, blooming blossoms, castles or centaurs.

Shadow theater, modern dance, light effects and music: "Shadowland" tells the fanciful story of a young girl in "shadow land". Her dreamworlds captivate the audience, confronting them with their own surreal dreams. The soundtrack ranges from ballads to hard-driving rock numbers.
