Open Monumentendag, Amsterdam's architecture
Open Monumentendag (Heritage Days) annually explores and celebrates architecture, both in Amsterdam and the country at large. It is aimed at bringing people into contact with their heritage, and to stir interest in, and an understanding of, preserving historical monuments.
During the Open Monumentendag - every second weekend of September - thousands of historical buildings and sites (about 4,000) are open to the public free of charge. The Heritage Days take place on September 10 and 11 2011.
On these days it will be not only about conservation, but very much about new lives, new uses, new prospects of built heritage and sustainable development. Because of that reason the theme of 25 Years Open Monumentendag, 25 Years raising awareness, is Reuse: new use for historic buildings.
Event starts September 10, 2011 @ 01:00 am and ends September 11, 2011
