Antwerp Fashion Show

Every year, 6,000 admirers from all over the world travel to Antwerp for the annual fashion show of the Fashion Department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Artesis Hogeschool Antwerp. They are here to admire and judge the student's designs but also experience the unique atmosphere of the show. An international jury will evaluate the student's creations. The Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts is one of the oldest in Europe. It was founded in 1663 by David Teniers the Younger. By the 1960s new departments were added to the Academy such as graphic design, photography, jewellery design, ceramic arts and Fashion design. Ann Demeulemeester, Dirk Bikkembergs, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene, Dries Van Noten and Martin Margiela are designers who graduated from the Academy in the beginning of the eighties.
