Christmas fair

Christmas has always been big in Belgium so it won't come as a surprise to you that Antwerp has been hosting a Christmas fair for some time now. It has enjoyed a steadily growing number of fans from Belgium as well as from abroad (including scores of Germans and Dutchmen). Its local fair is always being hosted on the Grote Markt and the Groenplaats, both of which are medieval town squares in the very heart of Antwerp. Obviously, traditional Christmas fare is being offered here (stolls and stalls, glühwein, spirits, sausages, mightily tacky Christmas decorations, yet more spirits) but with a Belgian twist, as the merchants also offer locally made food and drinks (which of course include even more spirits, notably gin). In other words: the kind of stuff that will melt your heart as well as your nearly-frozen limbs.
