New Year's Eve Celebrations

New Year's Eve Celebrations

On December 31st, the historic center of Vienna is transformed into what is probably the world's largest ballroom. Last year around 700,000 visitors celebrated beneath the stars along the traditional New Year's Path which winds its way through the narrow city streets. Food and drinks are served at some 70 booths while live music resounds from numerous stages. There is something for everyone, from disco and pop, to musicals and operetta, guaranteeing a vibrant launch into the New Year. The Pummerin - the giant bell in St. Stephen's Cathedral - tolls at midnight, followed by the strains of the Blue Danube Waltz.

And on January 1st, visitors can welcome in the New Year on City Hall Square with a "hangover breakfast" while enjoying the Vienna's Philharmonic's New Year's Day Concert transmitted live via big screen.
