St. Anna Tunnel
Most of Antwerp is located on the east bank of the River Scheldt, though the residential left bank (Linkeroever) is certainly worth a visit. If only to enjoy the views of the historical city and port in a quieter setting. The best way to cross the river on foot is to walk underneath it via the Sint Annatunnel. Each entrance is marked by a magnificent Art Deco building with original elevators and wooden escalators still in use. The pedestrian tunnel takes you down to 572m of white-tiled passageway. After a 10 minutes walk you'll emerge on the west bank in the middle of a small park.
