Art Gallery - De Zwarte Panter
De Zwarte Panter (The Black Panther), founded in 1968, is the oldest modern art gallery in Flanders and the second oldest in Belgium. Through the years, it has become an operating base for numerous artists, like Fred Bervoets, Pjeroo Roobjee and Jan Vanriet. Although mainly a centre for (figurative) plastic arts like painting, sculpture and graphics, De Zwarte Panter has always been more than just that. From the beginning, its programme has featured book presentations, readings and film screenings. As for now, you can visit 'The St. Alexis drawings', an exhibition by British artist Michael Bastow which portrays the lifecycle of woman on seven panels in pencil and pastel. But even if you're not a fan of modern art this gallery is worth visiting, as it is housed in a beautiful old chapel in the historical centre.
