New Year's Eve Party
On December 31st, Vienna's historic city center will be transformed into a gigantic party zone. Around 700,000 visitors are expected to make their way to the New Year's Eve Trail this year. Starting at City Hall Square, it winds its way through narrow streets. Food and drinks are served at some 70 booths while live music resounds from numerous stages. There is something for everyone, from disco and pop, to musicals and operetta, guaranteeing a vibrant launch into the New Year. The Pummerin - the giant bell in St. Stephen's Cathedral - tolls at midnight, followed by the strains of the Blue Danube Waltz.
The next morning, on January 1st, visitors can welcome in the New Year on City Hall Square with a "hangover breakfast" while enjoying the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Day Concert transmitted live via big screen.
